Our Mission is to promote the development of science, technology and intellectual property to drive the formation and advancement of of Arizona-based biotechnology companies.
ThirdBiotech Research Group is combining the best practices from the thirty years of the biotech industry with a modern entrepreneurial mentality. The concept of incubating early-stage companies has existed for some time, but there has been great difficulty as most incubators have been reliant on large investments in capital equipment and facilities. This puts tremendous pressure on the incubator to build a “business plan” to justify the large capital outlay. The pressure is compounded by building a business plan not aligned with the true intent of an incubator: to assist early-stage researchers and companies. Add to that the need to raise capital to support operations and outreach and suddenly the constraints began to build and often tend to overwhelm and death spiral the well intended project.
We acknowledge this scenario and believe an incubator must have a mission and a practical business plan. Large outlays of capital are difficult and we would rather see contributions to early-stage biotechnology companies.
Our goals are practical, achievable and well designed, they are:

1. Identify and assist three formal projects per year to develop toward a biotechnology organization

2. Facilitate the creation of one biotechnology company per year

3. We will have a greater than fifty percent survival rate at the third year mark for biotechnology
companies created from the ThirdBiotech Research Group model
